“For the Record” brings together 10 Chicago-Based Artists, each exhibiting a 24” x 24” piece that is inspired by one of their favorite albums. Artists had the option of recreating an album cover or creating a piece inspired by the cover or the music itself. Drawing inspiration from the venue itself, this album inspired exhibition was put together to celebrate Beverly Phono Mart’s 2 Year Anniversary on the South Side. The curators, Chantala Kommanivanh and Kimberly Leja Atwood, have been working together in the local art scene via Elephant Room Gallery since 2015. Pulling together a strong roster of artists they know, a number of which are from the South Side, the exhibition not only brings together a diverse roster of artists but the exhibition itself invites a diverse audience who appreciate music and art to come together and celebrate the culture and community in Chicago.
